Mbahazi is a Swahili delicacy, made with  pigeon peas and coconut. It is a side dish best served with Mahambri or any type of bread for Dinner or Breakfast.

Bhajia (Black Eyepeas Fritters)

Kaa’k is a Yemeni cake made with Arabic spices and baked to perfection. It’s usually made during special occasions. It is rich in flavours and sweet. It’s best enjoyed with Arabic coffee or black tea.

Samosas is a type of snack made with a filling of ground meat (Kima), it has a crunchy crust on the outside. Best served hot as a snack or as an appetiser in any meal.

Viyazi Karai (Deep Fried Potatoes in Gram Flour)

Viyazi is one of the street foods in Mombasa. This snack is so famous, and it can be eaten anytime of the day. Boiled potatoes with slight chilli in the middle, coated with gram flour and deep fried to give that crispiness from the outside. Best served with chutney and tamarind sauce.

Mkate wa Ufuta (Sessame Bread)

Sesame bread is a Swahili delicacy known for its softness and fluffiness. The combination of coconut and nutty taste from the sesame give it a unique taste. Well served with a side dish of Samaki wakupaka (fish in coconut) or any type of curry as a main meal, either lunch or dinner.
